About Us

Introduction

Nishkam Bhagawat Seva Charitable Trust serves in the heartland of Vraja, in Mathura district.

Here is a list of services that we engage in. Kindly participate in serving society by donating to any of these. Pouring out our best self has always been our motto.

Our Sevas (Initiatives)

Gau Seva

Through Nishkam Bhagawat Seva Charitable Trust, we tend to the cows of Vraja, the land where lord Krishna spent his early years. It is disturbing to see the plight of cows today. Cows cannot even express their pain. We believe in supporting those cowsheds which are in need. Though many have opened Gaushalas, not all are capable enough of looking after the cows. Our intention is to serve Gau Mata. To eradicate their suffering we have initiated-

a) Food for Cows

Gau Mata should not struggle for grains. That is our sincere endeavor.

So, every month we provide Khal, Chokar, Daliya and Gud to the Gaushala. The meals of Gau Mata are packed with green vegetables and juicy fruits.

b) Medical Expenses

Cows and Bulls suffer from various diseases like mastitis, diarrhea, skin problems due to lice, muscle weakness, including inability to walk due to impaired leg or injury, etc . Lactating cows and their calves require special care and treatment, to prevent diseases. Young calves are more susceptible to urinary infections. With kind support of donors we have been able to cater to the medical expenses of cows, bulls and calves.

Bhola, a bull that we had adopted, has become so attached to the Ashram environment that he refuses to eat when away from the premises. Sadly, problems come unasked. He developed a sore lump on lymphatic node, near his throat. With time, the lump continued to grow and spread in adjacent regions. He bleated in pain every time we tried touching him there.

During those critical hours, our committed gausevaks cared for him like a baby. To commence the treatment we contacted a veterinarian. The course of treatment began with the doctor paying weekly visits to the gaushala and which he continues to visit even today. Bhola is administered several injections a week. These injections have proven effective to stop the bleeding and pain. It was so hard to see him cry in pain.

His fear of needles makes it difficult for the gausevaks to control him. But, somehow he is pulled to the  travis where the doctor administers the injections. Now, after several months of medical care, Bhola is recovering.

Salaries for Gosevaks

People in general do Gau seva but everybody forgets the contribution of the Gausevaks whose lives revolve around Gau Mata. The Gausevaks come from humble backgrounds, with very fundamental needs. Initially, the Gausevaks were not given their salaries. Many were discouraged. However, there were a few who continued to serve Gau Mata selflessly.

We at Nishkam Bhagawat Seva Charitable Trust believe in coming to the aid of such sincere souls. Some Gausevaks had their daughters to wed, while others had debts to repay, yet they stayed back, just for the sake of the cows. Through Nishkam Bhagawat Seva Charitable Trust they now receive monthly salaries to support their families.

To reduce their workload, we also employed more cow caretakers who support them in the chores of the Gaushala. The Gausevaks attribute these phenomenal changes to the service rendered to the sacred, wishfulfilling cows of Gau. The Gaushala has newborn calves almost every second week. So, our family at the cowshed continues to increase and so do the resources.

This brings up the need for monthly support so that we may carry on the service. We firmly believe that Bhagavan will make arrangements. He shall inspire his people to carry on His good work.

Sarees for Old Widowed Mothers

During Old Age, the body loses its vitality and cannot work for a living. Sadly, older members are considered a burden on their families. Imagine the plight of the old-widowed mothers who have been abandoned by their own children. Where will they go?Many widowed mothers clad in torn saris, sit in the streets of Radha Kunda hoping for kind souls to donate for them.

We comfort them by distributing a fresh stock of white sarees and occasionally conducting Bhadaras. With your support we can do a lot more for them. These mothers do not seek anything but care!

Groceries for Blind Vrajavasis

For a living, the Blind Vrajavasis (residents of Vraja) sit along the Govardhan Parikrama, playing the harmonium and singing the glories of Sri Radha Krishna.

They remain content despite their poor living conditions. On some days people are gracious, while on other days people turn a blind eye towards them. They oblivious of who passes by take no offense. They are beings with a pure heart.

We at Nishkam Bhagawat Seva Charitable Trust, support their monthly grocery requirement so that they need not bend in front of others. Even before the requirement arises, we transport monthly groceries at their doorstep. We are thankful to the Lord for giving us this rare opportunity of seva.

Deity Seva

The first time we visited the Radha Govinda temple, we noticed the lord standing with a broken grazing stick. Govindji  wore the same Mukut for all festivals and sometimes he did not wear any. The smaller deities stood in the altar without any hairdressing. Ma Durga had only 3 pairs of Saris which she repeated throughout the year.

Some ornaments adorning the deities were a decade old and hence fragile. The Lord provides everything to His children and remains with nothing so that we can avail this opportunity of seva and earn sukriti. Instantly, Sri Radha-Govinda, Gopalji, Ma Durga, Shiv ji and Hanumanji became our own and it seemed as if they demanded service.

Through the contribution of blessed devotees, we got exquisite Poshak (dress) stitched for all the deities. Also we got the grazing stick polished and ment. We hope that devotees support our endeavors to please the Lord.
