The Story of the Hanuman Bahuk
Sri Hanumanji Maharaj is one of the most powerful deities in the Vedic Pantheon of Bharatha. He is a living god and is easily available to anyone who considers Sri Rama as one’s life and does Upasana out of Love for Him. Hanumanji is more impressed by selfless Love. The Hanuman Bahuk has an interesting story behind it.
Once, a rare disease attacked Sri Tulsidas Goswami. The Vaidya or Ayurveda doctors of those days that gave him an ultimatum believing he may not survive for long. Unable to bear the pain, Goswami Tulsidas prayed to Hanumanji and composed the Hanuman Bahuk. It is a hymn containing 44 verses, 4 more hymns than that of the famous Hanuman Chalisa.
Shortly after, Tulsidasji was completely rid of the disease, without a trace of the said disease on his body. Such was his Bhakti and the power of the hymn known as the Hanuman Bahuk that he composed.

Rules for Chanting the Hanuman Bahuk
On all 41 days, one must chant the Hanuman Bahuk in the morning. The person should only eat vegetarian food. A person must avoid intoxicants and smoking during this period. Many people believe that Hanuman Bahuk fulfills all their wishes.
But one must keep in mind that God fulfills no wish of a sincere devotee, if that wish is going to bring him harm in the long run. Apart from that Karma plays a large part in the events and circumstances in a person’s life.
The Bahuk is not for fulfilling our Unfair Demandas
So proclaiming that the Hanuman Bahuk alone can fulfill wishes of an ignorant reader of the Bahuk, is an overstatement. Such statements undermine the fundamental laws of Karma and Nature’s cycle.
However, when the sadhaka is sincere, the Lord shows compassion, especially when the sadhaka is suffering and Hanumanji displays his enormous ability to cure incurable diseases like cancer, after some amount of suffering as with Tulsidas Ji.
Tulsidas Ji was attacked by Kali Maharaj and Hanumanji uprooted the king of the current Yuga from the life of his dearest devotee Tulsidas. So, even if we suffer, reading the Bahuk will definitely offer much relief, but Hanumanji will never go overboard to make you rich and famous as some foolish people believe. If something is in one’s Karma that will anyway manifest. Stotrams are to establish your faith and removal of obstacles rather than enhancing your lifestyle and position.
Effective Healing Methodology with the Hanuman Bahuk
Many people use the Bahuk effectively. You can fill a copper vessel with pure water. Focusing on the water, one should read the Bahuk and imagine that the energy of your chants has potentized the water.
That water, one can give to a patient suffering from pains and diseases. In such cases, a devotee should potentize the water rather than an individual who has developed just little faith in Hanumanji Maharaj. The real cure is faith.
One can also offer Tulsi or Basil leaves to Hanumanji by chanting the Bahuk. Those leaves one can consume and also, one can use them as a support for the medicines that someone is taking for a certain illness. It is best to chant the Hanuman Chalisa.
